It’s been raining here in Maryland since Memorial Day weekend—like the sky missed the memo that it’s supposed to be summer. I finally gave in this week and started the seasonal closet swap. As I packed away the sweaters and boots and pulled out summer staples, I noticed something…
Not one pair of shorts. Not a single one.
Just linen pants, cotton dresses, and easy pieces I actually want to wear. I paused for a second—should I feel weird about this?
Then I smiled. Nope. This is me. And that little realization felt like freedom.
Somewhere along the way, I stopped trying to wear things I didn’t feel great in. I gave myself permission to let go of what used to work, or what I thought I should wear, and started listening to what makes me feel like me. That’s confidence at 56—not louder, just clearer.
Confidence Kickstart of the Week
Confidence doesn’t come from the size on the tag or following fashion rules. It comes from choosing what feels good—on your body, and in your life.
So this week, don’t reach for what you think you should wear—grab what feels like sunshine, even if it’s still raining.
What I’m Loving Lately
-
Style Favorite: Linen pants that feel like pajamas but look like I tried.
-
Makeup Must-Have: Still loving the Skintution Foundation—light, glowy, and perfect for dewy summer skin (even if the weather isn’t playing along).
-
Mood Booster: Reading (listening) My Friends a tender, heartwarming novel exploring the challenges and joys of life itself, of loving and trusting others, of unexpected change, and unexpected hope.
A Note of Pride
June is Pride Month—and while I’ll never pretend to speak for the LGBTQ+ community, I want to say this clearly: I’m an ally. I believe in love, inclusion, and the power of people showing up exactly as they are.
Whether you’re celebrating your own story or standing beside someone you love, this month is a reminder that everyone deserves to be seen, valued, and celebrated. Always.
Let’s keep choosing kindness, acceptance, and the kind of courage that helps others feel safe to be themselves.
Wishing you a week of comfort, clarity, and wearing exactly what you want.
See you next Monday, same time, same cozy inbox.
