Last week, the flu knocked me flat. For five days, I shuffled between the couch and my bed, wrapped in blankets, alternating between sweatpants and pajamas. The world outside turned white as snow fell, making my forced rest feel a little cozier—but let’s be real, I was over it by day three. Now that I’m finally on the mend, I realize something funny: getting dressed feels like a chore.
Isn’t it wild how easily we slip into habits? When I was sick, comfort was my only priority. But now, even though I feel better, part of me wants to stay in loungewear forever. It got me thinking about all the times in life when I’ve dressed for comfort—not just physically, but emotionally. For years, I dressed in ways that felt safe, that fit the roles I was playing, that blended in. I wasn’t really dressing for me.
This week, I’m shifting that. I’m choosing outfits that make me feel awake and alive again, not for anyone else, but for me.
How to Reclaim Your Style—One Small Choice at a Time
Wear Something That Makes You Feel Like You
Even if it’s just a favorite pair of earrings or bold lipstick—wear something today that reminds you of your best self.
Break Out of the Sweatpants Cycle
Comfort is great, but confidence feels even better. Swap one cozy piece for something structured—like trading leggings for jeans or a sweatshirt for a blazer.
Step Into Your Boldness
You don’t need a special occasion to “dress up.” If wearing the damn boots makes you feel powerful, wear them to the grocery store.
Stop Waiting for ‘Someday’
Don’t save your favorite outfits for special occasions. Today is the occasion.
