Lisa’s Letter 05.14.2025

cat in a windowI hope your weekend held a little something beautiful.

Last Sunday was Mother’s Day, and I spent mine doing exactly what I love most—slow living with my daughter Rose. We strolled our local farmers market, stopped to talk with friends, and later curled up at home with her and her cat Zepplin  (who, I must say, has fully won my heart).

These slower moments always remind me how far I’ve come, not just as a mother, but as a woman.

There was a time I thought turning 50 would feel like fading out. Society loves to tell us that midlife is a downturn, that women over 50 should shrink, quiet down, or settle into the background.

But something surprising happened. Instead of shrinking, I started to see things more clearly.

50 wasn’t a cliff. It was a doorway.
Not into decline—but into clarity.

Suddenly, I could spot what wasn’t working with laser vision: the bully boss, the self-imposed pressure to keep everyone comfortable, the belief that I had to earn rest, joy, or even a new lipstick color.

One day, I looked in the mirror and realized: Oh—this is me now. And I really like her.

Not because she has it all figured out, but because she stopped waiting for someone else to give her permission to show up fully.

This Week’s Confidence Tip:

Write your “Done With” List.
Write down three things you’re no longer carrying with you in this decade—maybe it’s over-explaining yourself, chasing approval, or shrinking to fit in. Tape it to your mirror. Revisit it when you forget.

Let this be the week you walk through your doorway with boots on.

You’re not behind. You’re just beginning.

With you in this,

Things I’m Loving This Week:

  • Skincare: Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Masque—My skin drinks this up. It’s hydrating, brightening, and smells like spring.

  • Style: My Portland Leather crossbody – The perfect mix of chic and functional.

  • Mindset Boost: A quote I pinned this week: “At some point, you have to let go of the version of yourself that shrank to survive.” Yes. Yes. Yes.

  • Currently Reading: What Happened to the McCrays? by Tracey Lange.  A novel filled with love and hope. It offers an intimate exploration of both sides of a failed marriage, focusing on two individuals who must finally confront the painful realities of their past or risk being overwhelmed by it.
